Massages
Massage has the richest and most ancient heritage of all the healing arts. Over centuries it has been referred to in literature, art and medicine as one on the oldest forms of treatment for human ills.
The first documented history of massage dates back approximately 400 years to ancient China. Indian, Egyptian, Persian and Japanese writing also indicate a profound use of massage techniques, but the greatest source of information comes from the ancient Greeks.
Modern massage therapy has been assisted by the accumulation of scientific evidence that both supports and explains the beneficial effects of massage.

Songkran Festival Phuket Thailand 2008

Songkran Festival Phuket Thailand 2008 will once again marked by the water based festivities, which traditionally were limited to sprinking some water on the head of your elders, or going to the temple for a blessing and sprinkle from a Monk. These days, water fights are the order of the day, though the temple is still important (see photos below). Just about anywhere you go, there are people lined up along the street ready with buckets of water and huge water pistols to drench anyone passing by. It can be great fun if you are in the mood. It can also be dangerous, as some folks get carried away with the occasion and fire water at passing motorbikes. People also tend to drink plenty of alcohol, and Songkran is well know for its high accident statistics, depsite police crackdowns, roadblocks.
Anyway they have other special for Songkran Day in Phuket at Rawai Muay Thai Camp, the world's biggest water fight. All of Thailand celebrates the Songkran festival with a massave water fight.
During the Songkran festival the streets are lined with 1000's people armed with buckets of water, they are ready to spash every one that passes bye ( locals & tourists! ). Between Sunrise & Sunset expect to get wet if you venture out doors during the Songkran Festival.
In recent years, the tradition of sprinkling water has been interpreted by youngsters as a great excuse for a water fight, and it is not uncommon to have buckets and containers of water thrown at you by teams of merry makers in the backs of trucks as you make your way down the street - particularly in major tourist areas like Patong. Small children delight in equipping themselves with water guns and spraying anyone who comes in their path - no one is exempt!
The Songkran Festival is a celebration of the Thai New Year. It is the start of the wet season, a time to reflect on the past year & the new year ahead.
Others area in Phuket truckloads of young people drive around the island throwing buckets of fresh water at one another. It is probably not the best day for visitors to the island to walk around shopping. However, in most of the island's hotels, the lovely rituals of Songkran are celebrated by staff who pay respect not only to their managers but to valued guests. Some resorts offer tour programs to local temples where their international guests can join in the Buddhist religious rites of paying respect to monks.
Remember this date when you are in Patong and leave your cameras and anything likely to suffer water damage behind in your hotel room, because you will get wet.

Khao Nak-Kerd Phuket

Have you ever heard about the history of Khao Nak-Kerd? If not, let me tell you this brief story. It is said that during the golden era of the Suwannaphum period, Phuketiens sent a representative to invite the Buddha to Phuket. The Buddha's first place of visit to Phuket was Koh Kaew Pidsadan near Promtep Cape to introduce morality to villagers. The villagers asked him to press his footprint as worship material near the riverside onto a huge stone. Buddha's footprint is one and a half size of a human footprint. Local people then named this place as " Buddha's footprint at Koh Kaew Pidsadarn ".
The Buddha then came to save mankind from sin near the seashore of the mainland, and the villagers asked him for a handprint as well. Hence, this area is named as " Rao-Wai " because this is the place where people pay homage to the Buddha and his handprint. As time passed people forgot about Buddha's handprint. The accent of local people has changed as well. Therefore, the name " Rao-Wai " has became " Ra-Wai " as it is known today.
Later, Buddha visited again on the top of a hill by the invitation of angels and Nagas. While he saved mankind from sin, all angels and Nagas became enlightened and went to heaven with a bright aura around their bodies. People who lived nearby saw this and thus named the mountain " Khao Nak-Kerd " which roughly translates as Mountain where birth of spiritual enlightenment happened.
Wow! An interesting history eh? So today I will take you to Khao Nak-Kerd which is situated in a tropical forest and is the highest mountain in Phuket. It is located between Karon and Chalong District. The best way to get there is via Chalong District along Chao Fah (West) Road. The route passes Soi Yod Sanea (Moo 10). It is 6 kilometers from the entrance of the side street to the top of the hill. The road is quite narrow and paved with asphalt only in the village area and soon turns to dirt. Keep following the flags provided along the roadside. You will pass many trees and orchards along the way. After 10-15 minutes driving, you will arrive at the hill top.

Khao Khad Viewpoint (Cape Panwa)

The Viewpoint tower at Kao Khad holds one of the most beautiful scenic views in Phuket. Established by Wichit district government organization, it is located at Wichit district, Amphur Muang, Phuket and overlooks Ao Makam and Cape Panwa. It is accessible via Sakdidej Road through Muang Tong Village and Mudong Canal. The way may seem a little complicated but look for many small guide posts along the road side.
Being a rather hilly place, Phuket is full of great views. We like to find the high spots, get some fresh air and sit on top of the world. Sometimes, it's good for your spirit just to get up above it all for a while. The viewpoint at Khao Khad is up a hill on Cape Panwa, in the SE corner of Phuket. Getting there is easy enough when you know how, but it's not very well signposted and the signs that do exist are mostly in Thai. There are several roads leading there - Cape Panwa has many small roads and is a great area to drive around. The Google Earth image below may help to locate the viewpoint.
You drive through rubber plantations to get there - rubber was one of the products that helped make Phuket a rich province, well before the tourist hordes discovered it. The tower is reached by a staircase, there is lots of parking space below, though you won't ever see the carpark full. From the top there are views across Chalong Bay to the West and Phuket Town to the North, and across the east to Koh Yao - you can see Phi Phi clearly too if the air is not too hazy.

It's unusual that I'm not feeling the effects of the climb as I thought I would. Maybe I have the task of photography to distract me. Before I know it I'm at the top of the Viewpoint tower. The ambience is fantastic!
It seems I have chosen the perfect day to come here. The skies are clear and I have been provided with what seems like perfect photo opportunities. The summit provides a 360 degree view. And it's possible to take in a clear view to nearby Koh Sirea and Phuket town, Cape Panwa and also Chalong Bay.
Maybe I can even see Krabi from here? Not quite. Just lacking a little in supernatural powers today! Unfortunately it may be a little too sunny as the effect through the view of my camera is a little bright and hazy.
After getting our fill of fresh air (it was quite breezy up there), we headed home via a road I had not taken before. The road (Phanttana Thongtin Road) follows a mangrove creek at the east end of Chalong Bay for a while (see photos below), before joining up with Chao Fa road (the main road between Phuket Town and Chalong).

Wat Chalong in Phuket

Wat Chalong is Phuket's most important Buddhist temple and is the biggest and most ornate of Phuket's 29 Buddhist monasteries. The architecture is typical of wats found throughout Thailand. Wat Chalong is associated with the revered monks, Luang Pho Chaem and Luang Pho Chuang, both of whom were famous for there work in herbal medicine and tending to the injured. During the tin miners' rebellion of 1876 they mobilized aid for the injured on both sides. They also mediated in the rebellion, bringing the warring parties together to resolve their dispute. Statues honoring them stand in the sermon hall (viharn). Many Thais come here to be blessed by the monks and receive a good luck charm in the form of a string tied around the wrist, which they believe protects them from injury and illness.
Many local Thais and Asian tourists will set off fire crackers and ask for the lucky lottery numbers, and have their fortune told. Just inside the main hall on the floor before the image are two cans of what looks like shaved bamboo chopsticks. Pick one up and shake the can back and forth rhythmically until one of the sticks works its way to the top and falls to the floor. Read the number, then walk around the corner to the right where there is a wooden cabinet on the wall. Open the drawer with the corresponding number and take one of the slips of paper inside. Get someone to translate it for you or hold onto it until you get back to your hotel where the desk clerk can translate it. Also on the floor are several pairs of red wooden blocks made from bamboo roots and shaped like twin halves of a mango. These help you make decisions. Pose a question that requires a 'yes' or 'no' answer. Toss the a pair blocks in the air and watch how they land on the floor. If both land with the same side up the answer is 'no'; if they land, one up and one down, the answer is 'yes'. Whichever form of divination you choose, be sure to leave a donation at the alter. It will go towards the upkeep of the shrine.

Lam Promthep (The Promthep Cape)

The Sun set at Lam Promthep
The weather conditions were clear subsequent to it had rained for a week. We strong-willed to go away to glimpse the sun set at Lam Promthep; nevertheless I can't retain information the most recent time I went there. Does not matter! The past is our experience. The future is the next. The present time is the most excellent and we have to become conscious it.

You should become conscious this information previous to you makes your mind up to go there. Foremost of all, you have to test out your car's capability. Do you recognize, there is traffic-jam on the highway to the cape, you have to drive surpass a small amount of high slopes, while there is traffic-jam. You can see in your mind's eye that, if your car is not capable to ascend up the hill, it would be going down the hill. I obtained such experience 4-5 years ago. Don't be anxious! If your car backs down the slope, you be supposed to pick the large stone from the highway side to building block its wheels.
Reason of its name of the nicest observation position in Phuket, reason for the most part of travelers desire to go there. There are numerous crowds on the cape, so you be supposed to set out early on to the cape. I think you ought to reach your destination at least 30 minutes. Otherwise you will fail to spot sun set. In addition to perceive the extraordinary surroundings, you can shop a lot of types of local souvenir, such as beautification materials, batik garments and pearl or shell decoration. Above and beyond that I encourage you to visit The King Bhumipol's Coronation Jubilee lighthouse. It situates on the summit of the hill; you can witness wider vision from it. Furthermore there is demonstration about navigation in the earlier period which you will know technology, apparatus and so on. This service is free of charge.
In reality, you can't see sun set every time on the cape, it's depending on how lucid of the sky. The weather conditions in Phuket are unpredictable especially in rainy season. I inform you what; my friends from Bangkok came up to to vacation with me in December. They intended to witness the sun set. You know the sky was clear thoroughly the day! And they looked forward to to get the good chance. But unfortunately, while the sun was setting at Lam Promthep, the sky was cloudy. Until now, they haven't chance to witness the fine-looking vista.
The sun sets every evening; there are crowds at Lam Promthep. It is on a daily basis activity on here. The human-being comes to this world, and go for away from this world. It's the same matter. You get the truth from this activity or not!

Phuket Diving Trips, Thailand

Trips Dive Cruises
Phuket is fortunate to be in the centre of one of the world's best diving areas. Prospects at the local beaches are limited, however short day trips can bring you to some spectacular sites.
For those with a little time to spare, the first class dive vessels based here offer access to the Similan, Surin and Andaman Islands and much more.
Phi Phi Island
The Phi Phi Islands (Phi Phi Don and Phi Phi Ley), some 40 km (25 miles) southeast of Phuket and about two hours by motorboat, are among the most beautiful islands in the world. They also have some excellent dive sites between 10 and 30 metres (33 and 98 feet), with visibility extending from 15 to 25 metres (49 to 82 feet). In particular, the islands offer several cave dives and many impressive wall dives. In addition, there are many hard and soft corals and an abundance of marine life. In the tropical reefs one can see, among other fish, whitetip sharks, stingrays and moray eels.
Note: With new fast boats in the area, one day Similan dive trips from Phuket are now also possible.
Over the past several years, Koh Phi Phi (pronounced pee pee) has grown from a peaceful little Muslim fishing-village to one of the busiest international tourist destinations in the country. It now boasts of at least 10 diving centres, several expensive international hotels, and a variety of cheaper bungalows and guest houses. Literally thousands of people visit it daily.
Located about 45 kilometres east of Phuket, the Phi Phi Island group -- precisely part of Krabi province -- is composed of the islands Koh Phi Phi Don, Koh Phi Phi Lae (Phi Phi of the sea), Koh Yung (Mosquito Island), and Koh Mai Pai (Bamboo Island). Although the scuba diving is generally not considered to be at world-class level -- depending on your definition -- Koh Phi Phi offers the keen diver a wide range of diving possibilities and occasionally some absolutely fantastic diving. It is a delightful place to spend a few days relaxing on its exquisite beaches, exploring its numerous coves and bays, climbing its steep vertical peaks, and enjoying some colourful and enticing scuba diving.
What sets Koh Phi Phi apart from other dive destinations in Thailand is two features: The first is the amazing limestone cliffs rising dramatically out of the sea and plunging equally dramatically straight down underwater. The second is the remarkable variety of dive sites that are concentrated in such a small area.
