Chiangmai night bazaar is located right in the heart of the city. There are many hotels in that area and visitors can enjoy walking along the shopping streets and spend time in the night bazaar and many other shops. The night bazaar building has so many shops selling Thai handicrafts, souvenirs, antiques, clothes, hilltribe products, wood carving, silverwares, lacquer ware, celadon, ceramic, paintings, Thai silk and cotton, etc. There are so many sidewalk stalls selling all kinds of items and you may want to bargain for the price. Opposite to the night bazaar building there is a place where food and drinks are sold. The Galare plus 2 Shopping Center offers dining, dancing and entertainment. Wualai Walking Street (Saturday Market) The Wualai has been so far known for good quality of silver and lacquer wares. On Saturday evenings, the open-air market will be set up for the famous handicraft area. Do not miss a chance to shop for authentic northern silver, lacquer wares and unique handicrafts. The Beginning of ?Ruen Come In Restaurant and Huen Come Residence? can be dated back to the year 1988, when this golden teakwood mansion was first built. The owner chose golden teakwood in order to reminisce her childhood, running and playing with her cousin in teak wood house in Phrae province.

The construction of the mansion was never been easy. It was difficult to find both the material and man craft. Starting from the teak wood, some were brought from Burma (Through Baan Nhong Ook check point ? it was closed already), some were from old houses in northern Thailand. In total, it took almost 7 years to finish this project.

Once the construction was finished, the owner?s family have moved in and started to decorate. Almost everything were self picked, some trees were self planted (especially the coconut tree, because the owner?s sons like to drink coconut). The atmosphere that surrounds the house is cosy and comfortable, it is a perfect place for oneself to relax.

This mansion served as a private house for only a short period. In 1997, during the ?IMF Era? when Thailand?s rising economy was collapsed, the owner decided to change it into a restaurant, so that other visitors can enjoy the nice atmosphere as well as the architecture. Guests have since then enjoy both the serene setting and taste of the food from family?s recipes (The grandparents used to own a famous restaurant ?Bua Sawan Bar? in Nhong Bua, Doi Saket district, some recipes are from Phrae province)
Recently, ?Huen Come Residence?, an accommodation service, has just been opened to those who seek to relax themselves in this contemporary design teak wood mansion and in Chiang Mai?s way of life.

Spa & Thai Massage

Thai Massage is a principal of art and science that has been passing along from one generation to another generation. In order to help Chiang Mai visitors experience and master this unique culture. Huen Come Residence together with ITM Thai Massage School offers its guest an opportunity to explore Nuad Bo-Rarn (Ancient Thai Massage).
Nuad Bo-Rarn is a unique form of body therapy that incorporates Hatha Yoga and Acupressure to stretch the muscles and open the joints. It is a safe, holistic treatment that harmonizes the body, increases energy, relieves stress and promotes a peaceful mind. It can also radically alter the perception of the self. This particular form of bodywork dates back over 2,500 years.

Courses

Introduction to Thai Massage (5 days 9.00 ? 16.00 start every Monday)
This course establishes the foundation of professional Thai massage. The concepts of meridians, energy lines (Sen), and Yin and Yang are introduced. This course covers practical aspects such as stretches, acupressure points, proper use of body weight, and techniques using thumbs, palms, elbows, and feet. Additional emphasis is placed on deep, focused abdominal (Hara) work.
At the end of the course, students will be able to perform an effective 1.5 hour treatment sequence covering the front position (lying on the back) and the back part of the body.

Thai Herbal Hot Compress (3 days – 15 hours flexible time)
This class explores the work of fine Thai herbs and their use in hot compress ? a centuries-old method of Thai remedy. Students will learn the benefits and properties of Thai herbs, how to make herbal ball and the hands-on technique of applying herbal balls using hot steam in conjunction with traditional Thai massage.

This 60 sq.m. suite is separated into a living room and a bedroom with 1 bathroom. This suite is contemporarily decorated with celadon and teakwood furniture with copper handicraft. Guests can enjoy front yard view from this room.

Huen Kaew Suite/ Double bed
This 54 sq.m. suite is also separate into a living room and a bedroom with 1 bathroom. This suite is contemporarily decorated with celadon, teakwood furniture and other northern style handicrafts. Guests can enjoy back yard view from this room.

Huen Ngam Grand Suite/ Single King-size bed
This 99 sq.m. grand suite is very spacious. The connecting bedroom and living room are separated only by beautifully designed furniture. The room is also decorated with celadon, teakwood furniture and other northern style handicrafts. Guests can relax by dipping in Jacuzzi with air pool and whirlpool water system or revitalizing themselves in Far Infrared Sauna cabin in spacious bathroom.

Teak Wood

Huen-Come-In Thai Restaurant Chiang Mai is located in a beautiful Contemporary Thai House. The whole house is made of Golden Teak Wood, which is highly regarded as an invaluable wood for its beauty and durability properties. Teak wood was popular in the past as material for House construction. Though we can see and buy teak wood furniture, but nowadays it is rare to see a big house building up with Teak wood as main material due to its high price and scarcity of the wood itself.
Teak wood in Thailand has different names, due to different color of the timbers. The so called “Golden Teak Wood” has golden-brown color. Much of the world’s teak is founded in India, Myanmar, Northern Thailand, Laos and Indonesia. It grows better in areas with adequate rainfall (1,000 ? 2,000 mm per year) and with 3 ? 4 months dry season (with 75 ? 95% light exposure).
The timber is used in the manufacture of outdoor furniture, boat decks, and other articles where weather resistance is desired. It is also used for indoor flooring and as a veneer for indoor furnishings.
Teak is easily worked and has natural oils that make it suitable for use in exposed locations, where it is durable even when not treated with oil or varnish. Teak cut from old trees grown slowly in natural forests is more durable and harder; teak from young trees grown in plantations is more prone to splitting and water damage.
Teak is used extensively to make doors and window panes, furniture and columns and beams in old type houses. It is very resistant to the attack of termites. The mature teak fetches a very good price. House make from Teak wood is popular, it is however very expensive to build the whole house out of Teak wood, due to high cost. Nowadays it is rare to see such buildings.
The age of the tree can be assessed from the annular rings formed every year inside the trunk. Teak is grown extensively by forest departments of different countries in forest areas. In Thailand, Forest department encourage farmers to grow it as economic plantation.
