Royal Spa

Entering the reception area of the brand-new Royal Spa is a soothing experience in itself. The interiors are daubed in soft and natural lighting, and furnished with antique and contemporary pieces. The music is kept at discrete levels. While sipping on gently-brewed herbal teas, you are guided through the extensive menu of Body, Mind and Soul treatments by professionally-trained members of staff.

Aligned with the Ancient origins of Thai massage, designs are mainly from the Sri Vijaya kingdom that spanned the central and southern regions of Thailand between the 7th and 9th centuries. The mainly Hindu influences came from India. Life-size sculptures of beautiful statues, recreated from this era, are set in niches along the corridor leading to private suites. A statue outside each room holds a lit candle when it is occupied, assuring you complete privacy.

Each private suite is simple yet elegant. The walls are covered in soft, rose-coloured silk with light green accents, and the design motif of the lotus. With over 300 square metres of dedicated treatment area, the spa features 4 of these indoor and outdoor suites, each with a very spacious 60 square metres.

A typical Royal Spa Suite includes: a private therapy preparation area (separate from the guest area), two luxurious locker-rooms for guests, a shower and steam room, a rest room, two indoor treatment beds, a jacuzzi with a relaxing Thai-style sofa, and a large outdoor floating treatment bed. All venues have majestic views of the beach of Nai Harn Bay.

Two of the Royal Spa Suites have unique features: A wet-treatment pavilion with a Zen garden and marble treatment beds, where you can indulge in a body scrub, or any of the wet treatments, in total privacy. A lotus pond and sunken jacuzzi complete these oases of relaxation.

After experiencing some of our dedicated treatment packages – Honeymoon Experience, Total Relaxation, Away from it All, or A Day In The Kingdom of Siam – Body, Mind & Soul will linger in your memory of The Royal Phuket Yacht Club Royal Spa.

Massages

Massage has the richest and most ancient heritage of all the healing arts. Over centuries it has been referred to in literature, art and medicine as one on the oldest forms of treatment for human ills.

The first documented history of massage dates back approximately 400 years to ancient China. Indian, Egyptian, Persian and Japanese writing also indicate a profound use of massage techniques, but the greatest source of information comes from the ancient Greeks.

Modern massage therapy has been assisted by the accumulation of scientific evidence that both supports and explains the beneficial effects of massage.

Restaurants & Dining

Dining at The Royal Phuket Yacht Club a Puravarna Resort is always a pleasure, with a delightful range of food and beverage facilities to choose from.

The Royal Phuket Yacht Club a Puravarna Resort is located on Nai Harn Beach at the southern tip of Phuket island. Phuket is named from the Malay word ?Bukit? meaning mountain, and derives much of its former glory and wealth from tin production which dates back 500 years. Nowadays, Phuket is Thailand?s largest tin producer, but is better known the world over for its beautiful beaches, crystal waters that contain colourful marine life, fascinating local culture and friendly people.

The flight from Bangkok to Phuket is only one hour, and direct flights also operate from Hong Kong, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Taipei, Australia and the US via Japan. The Resort is only 50 minutes from Phuket International Airport and 30 minutes from Phuket Town. Newly arrived guests will enjoy the drive to the Resort which will provide them glimpses of local residents still carrying out such occupations as rubber tree cultivation, coconut cultivation, fruit and rice farming and fishing, not to mention a view of some of the island?s most famous beaches and nearby islands set against the green waters of the Andaman Sea.

The Royal Phuket Yacht Club a Puravarna Resort has a great deal to offer guests. In 1987 the Yacht Club held the first King?s Cup Regatta in celebration of the 60th birthday of HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

There is a wide range of sports facilities at the Resort including a swimming pool, tennis courts, fitness centre and the newly opened Le Royal Spa. Cars are available for hire with or without a driver so guests can explore the island. Close to The Royal Phuket Yacht Club is Nai Harn Temple and Wat Sawang-Arom.

A trip up to Phuket town for shopping and wandering in the night market is easy, but the most popular excursions are to the neighbouring islands and adjoining beaches. Kata and Karon beaches are just around the bend and Chalong Bay is a few kilometres away. There are several islands to visit that are all easily accessible by boat.

Phuket, Thailand , is commonly referred to as the ?Pearl of South? and is the largest island in Thailand. Phuket Island runs 48 kilometers (34 miles) north to south and 21 kilometers (16 miles) east to west. Phuket is broken by a chain of mountains and valleys mainly from a north-south range running down the west coast. This accounts for about 70% of the land area. The tallest peak, Mai Tao Sip Song (12 Cane Peak) is 529 meters. The other 30% of the island is flat land located mainly in the central and eastern portions of the island. Laying in the Andaman Sea off southern Thailand?s west coast, the island?s terrain is incredibly varied, with rocky headlands, long broad sandy beaches, limestone cliffs, forested hills, small estuaries, lagoons, and tropical vegetation of all kinds. Its large size has allowed microclimates to develop in different areas of the island.

The island offers many different looks and feels for you to discover and enjoy. Kata Beach with its spectacular tropical scenery compared with the stately cassurina trees that are found on Nai Yang Beach just a few kilometers north. The triple canopy rainforest of Khao Phra Thaeo National Park to the mud flats and mangrove swamps of Koh Siray. Limestone outcroppings line the east coast and solid granite boulders on the west. Phuket is truly a tropical wonderland and offers something for just about everyone.

The most popular swimming beach and yacht anchorage during the dry season. Great for swimming from November to April, however care should be take in the low season (May-October) when there can be strong undertows on occasion. The local restaurants just above the beach make a great place to relax with a sundowner. The beach is green fine water, but big waves strike it during the wet season, making swimming dangerous. Regular bus service to and from Phuket town during daytime.

A quiet little spot at the southern end of Phuket, Nai Harn is one of the island?s most beautiful locations and most popular places with in-the-know locals. This quiet and tranquil place has only a few hotels including the Le Royal Meridien Phuket Yacht Club and is a favourite anchorage for boats during the high season.

Just north of Nai Harn, along the coast, is Nui Beach, small, secluded and difficult to access. Further along is Ya Nui, a sandy cove that attracts snorkelers and divers. Another out-of-the way spot nearby is the tiny beach of Ao Sane, a great spot for snorkeling, reached by taking the dirt road that starts at Le Royal Meridien?s car park.

A great place to have a snack and watch the sunset is Promthep Cape, a popular viewpoint only a few minutes drive from Nai Harn.

South of Kata Noi and north of Phrom Thep cape, Nai Han is not Phuket?s longest beach, but it borders the most gorgeous lagoon on the island. The middle of the beach is dominated by the Samnak Song Nai Han monastery, which has obstructed excessive development and is the reason that the beach is generally less crowded than other spots on the southern part of the island.

Nai Harn Beach, home to the Phuket Yacht Club, is a secluded area near the tip of the Island and is home to many of the local ex-pat residents. There are few places to rent for short term.

A Buddhist monastery is centred here: Samnak Song Nai Harn. During monsoon season swimming can be dangerous as there is a steep drop-off close to shore and strong undertow

Most of the accommodation along here is upmarket hotels, though there are budget spots on hideaway Yu Nui beach to the south, and Ao Sane to the north (via the yacht club) has one good budget choice and a mid-range option. Compared to Nai Harn, Ao Sane feels like a different world ? enroute the grassy hills along the shore slope sharply downwards to the secluded, rocky beaches, and the winding road crosses several wooden bridges over streams running into the ocean. It?s a great little hideaway.

Laem Prom ThepA wide variety of water sports can be enjoyed, but swimmers should be alert for the red flag which warns of dangerous currents during the monsoon season from May to October. One can walk to nearby Phrom Thep cape to observe sunsets which are often fiery and spectacular.

The few available accommodations range from the sumptuous and extremely expensive on the western end of the lagoon, to more modest places, most of which are a little remote from the beach itself.

Bangtao Beach, Phuket is a large open bay with one of Phuket?s longest beaches. It was once used for tin mining, but has since been developed into a luxury resort. Most of it is occupied by the Laguna complex, a massive five-hotel development with golf course. There are, however, accommodations available outside Laguna at the bay?s south end. Dry season swimming is excellent, and at the bay?s north end is a smaller bay, almost completely enclosed, at the mouth of which is some fine coral. Plenty of places to eat, tour companies, and other tourist facilities available either at Laguna or in the nearby town of Cherng Talay.

Bang Tao is a study in contrasts, with the luxurious resorts and villas along its 6km (4 mile) stretch of beach just a few minutes? away from the town of Cherng Talay, where many villagers still make their living as their ancestors did – by fishing, farming and rubber tapping. The northern tip of the beach, so far untouched by development, is still an area where visitors might find that they have the beach to themselves. Apart from going to the beach and a few bars and restaurants there?s not much that you need to leave your resort for.

Taking up a huge area in the middle of Bang Tao beach, Laguna Phuket, one of Asia?s largest resort complexes, comprises of 6 luxury hotels, a golf course and residential housing.

A wide range of activities – including a ropes course and rock climbing, windsurfing, elephant riding and kids? sports – is available for guests of Laguna?s Sheraton Grande, Dusit Laguna, Laguna Beach, Allamanda, Laguna Holiday Club and Banyan Tree Phuket resorts, and some are open to outside visitors as well. Play a round of golf at the Laguna Phuket course, practice your swing on the driving range nearby or go horseback riding along the beach. Afterwards, indulge in a massage and spa treatment at the world renowned Banyan Tree spa or at other retreats nearby.

Of course there?s more to Bang Tao than just Laguna, it?s also home to many other resorts.
